Expanite delivers solutions and outlook !

Dear readers of Expanite’s newsletter, dear customers,

We’re happy to present to you the last Expanite newsletter of 2021! In the following, you will find examples of the versatility in Expanite’s technology – whether the challenge is galling & corrosion on oil & gas fittings or replacement/reinforcement of DLC coatings – Expanite does solve problems and delivers solutions. We’re also using the opportunity to conclude on yet another year with more than 500 people attending our webinars and reminding all our current and future customers that Expanite furnaces are running throughout the upcoming holiday season.

The view towards 2022 might be blurred by serious challenges such as supply chain  bottlenecks, high inflation, and Covid-19 – but here & now, our aim is to look ahead –  and within Expanite there is plenty of good things to look forward to! On the one side,  we  will increase our capacity in Germany, the US and China – this means more    furnaces,  more flexibility and better service. And on the other side, we are working on  improving our presence digitally via a new website and physically with an all-new site in Asia – stay tuned for more in 2022.

With these words, we would like to wish everybody, our loyal customers, partners, suppliers and other stakeholders, a merry Christmas, happy Holidays, and very best wishes for a prosperous New Year.

Best regards,

Thomas Abel Sandholdt
CEO, Expanite

Expanite removing galling while improving corrosion resistance on fittings for oil & gas

A horror for every assembler: Galling of stainless steel fittings. A drop of lubricant on the thread helps; but what if, due to for example hygienic requirements, no lubricants may be used, or it is simply forgotten? And what if competitive processes, that might help on galling reduce corrosion resistance?

With processes specially developed for stainless steel, Expanite has overcome this dilemma, using its patented technology to improve corrosion resistance of components during hardening and at the same time make them resistant to wear and galling.

Replacement or reinforcement of
DLC Coatings by Expanite

Diamond-like carbon or DLC coatings are today used in many areas where excellent friction properties and good wear resistance are required on component surfaces.
The DLC layers applied by complex, time-consuming and costly PVD or PACVD processes are usually only a few micrometers thick. If the part also is required to be corrosion-resistant, making the use of stainless steels mandatory, the DLC system has some weak points.

The soft stainless steel as the carrier medium and the correspondingly high hardness gradient to the thin DLC layer promote the eggshell effect this might lead to a defect in the coating, and it will easily start peeling off.

If you weren’t among the more than 500 participants in 2021, don’t worry!

We are very excited and proud that so many attended our webinars in 2021 – more than 550 people from around world signed up.

Did you miss our webinars? Do not worry we will invite to yet another round in 2022.
